It’s Sunday morning, and the Michigan Challenge Balloonfest is waking up to a better forecast and a great schedule of events today!

The morning begins with the Arts Festival and Open-Air Marketplace, open today from 10am-4pm. Artists are displaying and selling their hand-crafted work at the juried Arts Festival, and the Open-Air Marketplace (new to the Michigan Challenge Balloonfest this year!) is the perfect compliment to the festival, offering guests cash-and-carry items that include antiques, gifts, souvenirs, collectables, and trinkets. There is even live entertainment at the Arts Festival, Open-Air Marketplace, and Highlander Food Court planned for today, from 2pm-7pm!

The popular Wade Shows Carnival begins today at 11am, and runs until 9pm this evening. You can get a “pay one price” wristband (which allows for unlimited rides!) for $22 at the carnival ticket booth.

On the Main Stage & Launch Field, today has a full schedule of fun and entertainment (weather-permitting, of course) that includes the Renewal by Andersen skydivers (planning to fly in at Noon, 2pm, and 5pm) and the Windjammers Stunt Kite Team at 1pm.

NEW to the Michigan Challenge Balloonfest this year, the Livingston Sensation Singing Contest will take place at 2pm – join us at the main stage to see the finalists compete to win a hot-air balloon ride!

Don’t forget about the Howell Sunday Farmers’ Market, taking place in Downtown Howell (adjacent to the courthouse) from 9am-2pm today, as well.

The Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra will be at the Michigan Challenge Balloonfest today with their popular “Instrument Petting Zoo” from 12pm-4pm, where children can play a wide variety of musical instruments. The Landing Zone is a creative and entertaining area for kids of all ages to play, shop, eat and explore. Enjoy the interactive mobile displays, including Alexandria’s Nature Bus (visiting from the Howell Conference & Nature Center), product giveaways from Meijer, food sampling from Stubb’s BBQ, and much more.

The Citizens Insurance Family Fun Tent will be open from 1pm-6pm today. Join us for activities brought to you by the Livingston County Family YMCA, including the Balloonfest 500, crafts, games, and hula hooping from Monarch Hoops and Dance.

This evening ends with a planned mass balloon launch between 6pm and 8pm, weather permitting.
